Background


The son of a Standardbred trainer, Prat was 16 when he began riding in France in 2008 and a year later was the nation’s champion apprentice.

In 2009, he started riding periodically during the winter in Southern California before returning home to ride. At Santa Anita, he worked for Hall of Fame trainer Richard Mandella. Prat was 17 when he rode his first winner at Santa Anita in January 2010.

Prat’s first full season in North America was 2015, and he finished second in the standings of the Del Mar summer meet. At Del Mar, Prat earned his first North American Grade 1 win aboard Wild Dude in the Bing Crosby Stakes.

After earning multiple titles as leading rider at meets in Southern California, Prat rode full time at Keeneland’s 2022 Spring Meet.
