Keeneland Sales Graduates Nest, Shedaresthedevil Highlight Kentucky Oaks Day Racing

More than 30 Keeneland sales alumni are showcased in graded stakes competition on Kentucky Oaks (G1) Day, Friday, May 6 at Churchill Downs. 

Eight Keeneland sales graduates are entered in the Kentucky Oaks, led by the top three fillies favored in the morning line: Central Bank Ashland (G1) winner Nest, undefeated multiple Grade 2 winner  Kathleen O. and champion Echo Zulu.

Keeneland sales have produced the past five winners of the 1 1/8-mile Kentucky Oaks: champion Abel Tasman(2017), champion Monomoy Girl (2018), Serengeti Empress (2019), Shedaresthedevil (2020) and champion Malathaat (2021).

Nest is bidding to become the latest filly to win the Central Bank Ashland and Kentucky Oaks. Fourteen fillies have won the two races, most recently Malathaat. A total of 35 fillies who have competed in the Central Bank Ashland have won the Oaks. Another recent notable is 2016 Oaks winner Cathryn Sophia, who was third in the Central Bank Ashland.

Mutiple Grade 1 winner Shedaresthedevil defends her title in the La Troienne (G1) Presented by Signify Health. Shedaresthedevil is undefeated in five races at Churchill Downs, including the 2020 Kentucky Oaks and 2021 La Troienne. 

Multiple graded stakes winner Diamond Oops seeks to become the first two-time winner of the Twin Spires Turf Sprint (G2) Presented by Sysco. He won the stakes in 2020 and finished fourth last year.
