Keeneland September Sale Graduates Midnight Bourbon, Arklow Seek Grade 1 Wins on Saturday

Keeneland sales graduates highlight the graded stakes fields for opening weekend at Saratoga and Del Mar, and TVG.com Haskell Day at Monmouth and Arlington’s “Million Preview Day” on Saturday.

Grade 3 winner Midnight Bourbon, second in the Preakness (G1) in his last start, is among the top contenders in the $1 million TVG.com Haskell (G1), a “Win & You’re In” event for the Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1). 

The Haskell undercard features multiple graded stakes winner Arklow, an earner of more than $2.7 million and winner of the Louisville (G3) in his season debut in May, in the United Nations (G1) and recent Westchester (G3) winner Dr Post in the Monmouth Cup (G3).    

Keeneland’s September Yearling Sale is represented by seven of the 12 juveniles entered in the Sanford (G3) at Saratoga, led by morning-line favorite Wit, a six-length debut winner at Belmont and promising 2-year-olds Catch the Smoke andOttoman Empire.

Express Train, winner of the San Pasqual (G2) and twice Grade 1 placed this year, goes postward in the San Diego (G2) at Del Mar.
