April 2, 2018

Keeneland sales graduates turned in eye-catching performances to highlight Dubai World Cup Day on Saturday at Meydan.

Keeneland September Yearling Sale graduate Hawkbill captured the $6 million Dubai Sheema Classic (G1) in gate-to-wire fashion. The win followed his victory in the Dubai City of Gold Sponsored by Emirates Skycargo (G2) at Meydan in March.

Mendelssohn, the $3 million sale topper at the 2016 September Sale, aced his first dirt test, winning the UAE Derby Sponsored by Saeed & Mohammed Al Naboodah Group (G2) by 18¼ lengths while setting a track record. The colt earned 100 points for the victory to rank third in the Kentucky Derby (G1) point standings.

Mind Your Biscuits successfully defended his title in the Dubai Golden Shaheen Sponsored by Gulf News (G1). The January Horses of All Ages graduates powered from last to first with a thrilling stretch run that set a track record.

On Friday, Gronkowski won his fourth in a row, and second prep on the inaugural European Road to the Kentucky Derby, to clinch an invitation to compete in the Derby. Gronkowski sold as a weanling at the 2015 November Breeding Stock Sale.
