Keeneland hosted a crowd of 11,552 for its 25th annual Kentucky Derby Day party, which offered a variety of family activities, food and wagering opportunities on racing from Churchill Downs and other major tracks throughout the day.
A total of $1,454,870 was wagered at Keeneland and The Red Mile on the Kentucky Derby (G1) and multi-leg pools that ended in the Derby.
Guests at Keeneland enjoyed a number of venue options during the day, ranging from dining rooms to corporate suites and a Party in the Paddock Presented by Bud Light, where fans picnicked, listened to live music and took part in a Derby hat contest. A full afternoon of activities for children and families included pony rides, cookie decorating, face painting and Keeneland Kids Club stick Derby races.
Keeneland sales graduates won nine graded stakes at Churchill Downs on Kentucky Oaks and Derby Days, led by Serengeti Empress, the gate-to-wire winner of the $1.25 million Kentucky Oaks (G1) on Friday. Other Keeneland-sold graded stakes winners were Bricks and Mortar (Old Forester Turf Classic-G1), Mia Mischief (Humana Distaff-G1), Mitole (Churchill Downs Presented by TwinSpires.com-G1), She’s a Julie (La Troienne Presented by Inside Access from Chase-G1), Beau Recall (IRE) (Churchill Downs Distaff Turf Mile-G2), McKinzie (Alysheba Presented by Sentient Jet-G2), Mr. Money (Pat Day Mile Presented by LG&E and KU-G3) and Concrete Rose (Edgewood Presented by Forcht Bank-G3).
