Works from such celebrated regional artists as Henry Faulkner, Paul Sawyier and Robert James Foose are featured in the seventh annual Sporting Art Auction, a collaboration between Keeneland Association and Cross Gate Gallery of Lexington, to be held Sunday, Nov. 17, at 4 p.m. ET in the Keeneland Sales Pavilion.
Among the notable pieces cataloged this year are four works by Faulkner, including Keeneland, a signed oil painting; Franklin County, Kentucky Mill Scene, a signed gouache by Sawyier; and The Tanyard House, Pleasant Hill, a signed and dated watercolor by Foose. (see attached images).
The 2019 collection comprises 190 high-quality lots representing fine sporting art, American paintings and sculpture by renowned masters such as Sir Alfred Munnings, Henry Stull, John Frederick Herring Jr. and LeRoy Neiman and talented contemporaries such as Andre Pater, Richard Stone Reeves, Quang Ho, Peter Howell and Larry Wheeler.

In keeping with Keeneland’s mission, the Association’s portion of the auction proceeds will benefit its non-profit initiatives.
The Sporting Art collection is open to the public for viewing in the Keeneland Sales Pavilion from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. daily.
