Grassroots Training & Sales paid $67,000 for a son of Liam’s Map from the family of Grade 1 winner Albert the Great to lead Saturday’s 12th session of the Keeneland September Yearling Sale.
Gainesway, agent, consigned the colt, whose dam is the winning Indian Charlie mare Pelipa.
Grassroots and Gainesway were the session’s respective leading buyer and consignor by gross. Grassroots spent $149,000 for four horses and also acquired colts by First Samurai and Not This Time and a filly by Temple City.
Gainesway sold 25 yearlings for $299,000.
On Saturday, 215 horses sold for $2,298,500, for an average of $10,691 and a median of $6,500.
With one session of the September Sale remaining, cumulative sales are $358,696,600 for 2,648 yearlings, for an average of $135,459 and a median of $52,000.
Woods Edge Farm (Peter O’Callaghan), agent, on Saturday consigned a son of Palace who sold to Chris Randall for $60,000. The colt’s dam is Any for Love (ARG), a Group 1 winner in Argentina by Southern Halo.
