Curlin Colt Brings $4.1 Million At September Sale

The highest price at Keeneland’s September Yearling Sale since 2010 was recorded during Tuesday’s second session of the 2019 renewal when Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s Godolphin paid $4.1 million for a Curlin colt who is the first foal out of New Zealand champion sprinter Bounding (AUS).

He is the most expensive yearling to sell at public auction this year in North America.

The colt was consigned by Eaton Sales, agent for Stonestreet Bred & Raised.

A colt by War Front out of Kentucky Oaks (G1) winner Believe You Can sold to Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s Godolphin for $2.9 million during Tuesday’s second session of the auction.

Brereton C. Jones/Airdrie Stud, agent, consigned the colt, who is a half-brother to stakes winner Believe in Royalty. Jones bred and raced Believe You Can.

Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum’s Shadwell Estate Company Ltd. spent $1.05 million for a filly by Curlin out of Grade 1 winner Dreaming of Julia durng Tuesday’s second session of the Keeneland September Yearling Sale.

Denali Stud, agent for Stonestreet Bred & Raised, consigned the filly.

Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum’s Shadwell Estate Company Ltd. paid $1 million for a War Front filly who is the first foal out of the Grade 3-winning Tapit mare Delightful Joy during Tuesday’s second session of the Keeneland September Yearling Sale.

Gainesway, agent, consigned the filly.

Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s Godolphin paid $1 million for a Union Rags filly who is a half-sister to 2019 Black-Eyed Susan (G2) winner Point of Honor and recent juvenile debut winner Wicked Whisper shortly after the start of Tuesday’s second session of the Keeneland September Yearling Sale.

Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent for Siena Farm, consigned the filly, whose dam is the Bernardini mare Zayanna. She also is the dam of stakes winner Velvet Mood.

Larry Best’s OXO Equine paid $900,000 for a colt by Flatter who is a half-brother to Grade 1 winner Beach Patrol during Tuesday’s second session of the Keeneland September Yearling Sale.
