The Keeneland Library will hold a Duplicate Book Sale featuring unique racing-related books, journals and memorabilia on Aug. 5-6 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET at the Keeneland Entertainment Center and Keene Barn.
Among the approximately 4,000 volumes and 1,000 single magazines included in the sale are copies of the American Racing Manual and large sets such as Krik’s Guide to the Turf, Goodwin’s Annual Official Turf Guides, American Stud Book and General Stud Book. Also offered will be popular titles from many genres as well as racing programs, posters and media guides.
Most of the duplicate books are currently out of print, and all but the rarest books will be priced to sell.
Proceeds from the sale will enhance the Library’s ability to preserve its collections and to offer outreach and research services. All purchases must be made in person; no advance sales are available.
“The Keeneland Library is delighted to offer its third Duplicate Book Sale,” Keeneland Library Director Becky Ryder said. “The sale will feature something to capture every racing fan’s interest, from equine art or racecourse design to biographies of horses from A to Zenyatta.”
The Keeneland Library is one of the world’s largest repositories of information related to Thoroughbred racing, housing nearly 30,000 books, more than 1 million photographic negatives and prints, and thousands of newspaper and magazine articles about all aspects of the equine industry.
