Keeneland Sales Graduates Excel on Breeders’ Cup Weekend

Keeneland sales graduates swept seven Breeders’ Cup World Championship races as well as major stakes across North America this weekend.

·         Keeneland sales graduates posted exactas in two Breeders’ Cup races – Accelerate and Gunnevera in the $6 million Classic (G1) and Game Winner and Knicks Go in the Sentient Jet Juvenile (G1). 

·         JaywalkRestless Rider and Vibrance finished 1-2-3 in the Tito’s Handmade Vodka Juvenile Fillies (G1).

·         Monomoy Girl established herself atop the sophomore filly division with her win in the Distaff (G1), her fifth Grade 1 victory. 

  • Champion and two-time Keeneland sales graduate Roy H successfully defended his title in the TwinSpires Sprint (G1).

·         City of Light romped to a 2¾-length win in the Dirt Mile (G1) to record his third Grade 1 victory. 

  • Bulletin won the inaugural Juvenile Turf Sprint in only his second career start.

Rocketry won the Marathon Presented by TAA (G2) and Divine Miss Grey took the Chilukki (G2) on the Breeders’ Cup undercard at Churchill Downs.

Keeneland sales graduates also were successful at the highest levels across North America: Vekoma won the Nashua (G3) and Tereza Z won the Turnback the Alarm (G3), both at Aqueduct; A. A. Azula’s Arch won the Maple Leaf (G3) at Woodbine; and Storm the Hill won the Senator Ken Maddy (G3) at Santa Anita.

For his Grade 3 win, Vekoma earned a $5,000 September Sale Bonus for Jon Clay, owner of the colt when he sold at the 2017 September Yearling Sale.
