Game Winner, Jaywalk and Bulletin, all graduates of Keeneland’s 2017 September Yearling Sale, dominated their respective Breeders’ Cup World Championship races on “Future Stars Friday” at Churchill Downs.
Game Winner turned in a gritty performance to win the $2 million Sentient Jet Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1) and stamp himself the early favorite for the 2019 Kentucky Derby (G1). The victory is the third Grade 1 win in four career starts for the undefeated son of Candy Ride (ARG), who previously won the Del Mar Futurity (G1) and American Pharoah (G1). Game Winner’s half-brother, Flagstaff, is cataloged as a racing prospect to Keeneland’s 2018 November Breeding Stock Sale.
Jaywalk established herself as the early favorite for the 2019 Kentucky Oaks (G1) with a dominating 5½-length win in the $2 million Tito’s Handmade Vodka Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1). It is the fourth consecutive victory for Jaywalk, who captured the Frizette (G1) at Belmont in similar gate-to-wire fashion. Bulletin broke like a shot to immediately take command of the inaugural $1 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint and never relinquished the lead, drawing clear in the stretch to win by 2¾ lengths in only his second career start.
