Keeneland September Sale Graduates Spanish Mission, Totally Boss Earn Breeders’ Cup Berths with Victories on Saturday

September 9, 2019

Half-siblings to stakes winners Ms Bad Behavior, Cambria and Five Star General consigned to Keeneland September Sale

Keeneland September Yearling Sale graduates Spanish Mission and Totally Boss each secured an automatic berth in the 2019 Breeders’ Cup World Championships with victories in the Jockey Club Derby Invitational and Runhappy Turf Sprint (G3), respectively, on Saturday.

Spanish Mission, a Group 3 winner in England, made an exciting U.S. debut with a gutsy win in the $1 million Jockey Club Derby at Belmont. The Jockey Club Derby is the final leg of NYRA’s inaugural Turf Trinity and a “Win and You’re In” race for the Breeders’ Cup Turf (G1).

Totally Boss earned a berth in the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint (G1) with his victory in the Runhappy Turf Sprint at Kentucky Downs. Totally Boss won the Kentucky Downs Preview Turf Sprint in August.

Keeneland September Sale alumni won three of the five stakes held Saturday at Kentucky Downs. In addition to Totally Boss’ win in the Turf Sprint, Ms Bad Behavior took the Three Chimneys Ladies Turf (G3) and Cambria defeated males in the Kentucky Downs Juvenile Turf Sprint.

Half-siblings to Saturday stakes winners Ms Bad Behavior, Cambria and British Columbia Derby (G3) winner Five Star General are consigned to Keeneland’s 2019 September Yearling Sale, which begins today at noon Eastern. Castle Park Farm, agent, offers a half-brother to Ms Bad Behavior by Palace Malice (Hip 773). Summerfield, agent, consigns a half-sister to Cambria by Uncle Mo as Hip 1415. Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent, offers a half-sister to Five Star General by Into Mischief (Hip 1737).

September Sale alumni also were successful abroad this weekend. Moonhak Chief, Korean champion 2-year-old colt in 2017, won the Keeneland Korea Cup and Blue Chipper captured the Keeneland Korea Sprint, both held at Seoul.
