LEXINGTON, KY (Oct. 12, 2016) – Mossarosa’s Frammento, who finished fourth in last year’s Toyota Blue Grass (G1), will return to the races Friday in a seven-furlong allowance race after more than a year layoff.
“It is nice to have him back and the seven-eighths is a good distance to start back,” trainer Nick Zito said. “After the Travers (G1), we gave him a long layoff and then when we brought him back he had some minor things and a foot issue but he is good now.”
Frammento had a steady stream of works at Saratoga before shipping to Keeneland, where last Friday he worked a half-mile in :47.40, the second fastest of 31 at the distance.
Last year, Frammento finished 11th in the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (G1) and was fifth in the Belmont (G1) before going to Saratoga and finishing fourth in the Jim Dandy (G2) and sixth in the Travers.
Jose Ortiz has the mount Friday afternoon in the seventh race on the 10-race program.
