Millionaire Up with the Birds Heads Field of 14 for Thursday's Sycamore

LEXINGTON, KY (Oct. 16) Sam-Son Farm’s Up With the Birds, a three-time graded stakes winner and earner of more than $1.8 million, heads a field of 14 and one also-eligible entered Sunday for Thursday’s 22nd running of the $100,000 Sycamore (G3) for 3-year-olds and up going 1½ miles on the turf.

Now in the barn of Graham Motion, who has won the Sycamore the past two years with HolidayStar, Up With the Birds has won one of six races this year with that score coming in the Nijinsky (G2) at Woodbine in July.

Robby Albarado will have the mount on Up With the Birds and break from post position five.

Motion also will send out Street Fashion for Augustin Stable, which has won the Sycamore six times. In addition to Holiday Star, Augustin’s winners are Rochester (2001, 2002 and 2005) and Crowd Pleaser (2000). Street Fashion will be ridden by Edgar Prado and break from post position 13.

Chief among the challengers to Up With the Birds is Wayne Spalding and Faron McCubbins’Bullards Alley.

Trained by Tim Glyshaw, Bullards Alley won the Louisville Handicap (G3) at Churchill Downs going 1½ miles and finished second to Breeders’ Cup-bound Da Big Hoss in the Kentucky Turf Cup (G3) at Kentucky Downs last month.

Marcelino Pedroza Jr. has the mount on Bullards Alley and will break from post position eight.
