Stout, who is from Louisville, has an MBA and a Bachelor of Science in accounting from the University of Kentucky. He spent 13 years at Dean Dorton Allen Ford prior to joining Keeneland in July 2019. 

Stout is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Kentucky Society of Certified Public Accountants. He currently serves on the board of directors for Commerce Lexington, YMCA of Central Kentucky and Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Bluegrass. He previously was a member of the board of the Lexington Public Library. 

Hunter and his wife, Amy, have two children, Chloe and Jack.
