By Matt Shifman and Bob Ehalt

Hot List Key:
 A:
A preferred horse to watch                         B: Secondary horse to watch
*C: Went down 2 or more betting notches and finished 1st through 3rd
*D: Went down 2 or more betting notches and finished 4th or worse
* - 4 or more betting notches if 11-1 or more.

5th race [Md Sp Wt, 6F TURF] – (2) Evan Harlan (C) makes his second career start after a third in his debut back in June at Belmont Park for Graham Motion. He was bet down from 18-1 to 14-1. (4) Heat’s On Zap made his first start at Gulfstream Park for George Weaver and gets blinkers on which is a successful move for him. (6) Starrystarryknight moved from dirt to turf in his 2022 debut at Tampa and made a notable improvement. That race was a mile so he will cut back to sprinting. (5) Run Smitty Run moves back to New York from Tampa with past turf starts that can win in this spot.

6th race [Md 40000, 6 ½ F] – (3) Inspiration Point (A) was taken up at the start ending up in last and then rallied for second well clear of the rest of the field. That was his first start back on the dirt after racing at Turfway Park on the artificial surface and the grass. (1) Baltasar was third in that same race as the Hot List horse but it was his first start following a six-month layoff for Rob Atras. (7) Dot’s Dollar was heavily bet in all three of his starts. He was claimed for $50,000 at Fair Grounds by Tom Morley from a race that came off the turf. (6) Wegottaguy will make his debut for Repole Stable and Todd Pletcher who wins with 33% of his maiden claimers.

8th race [Top Flight Invitational, 1 1/8 mi] – (2) Maiden Beauty (C) made her 2022 debut with a third in the Heavenly Prize after setting the pace. She was bet down from 4-1 to be the 8-5 favorite with a great record at Aqueduct of 15: 5-3-2. (3) Frost Point (B) got an impatient ride last time after starting last she was rushed up into traffic on the inside, had to drop back, and rallied again to finish second in an allowance. This will be her first try in a stakes race. (5) Battle Bling won the Ladies Handicap at the Big A in January and then missed another win by a neck in Heavenly Prize. (6) Ice Princess is a consistent performer at Aqueduct in allowances and NY-bred stakes.

9th race [NY, Md Sp Wt, 1 1/16 mi TURF] – (1) Whatlovelookslike (A) debuted for Todd Pletcher at Saratoga where she had to steady down the stretch while rallying. She was moved up to second-place because of her troubled trip. She will get Lasix for her first start of the year. (2) Menily (D) flashed speed in her career debut at Aqueduct in February. She was bet down from 8-1 to 6-1. (6) Limani made her first start at Gulfstream in a race that came off the turf for Chad Brown. (9) Our Jessica was second in her last start and gets blinkers on as trainer David Donk moves her from dirt to turf.

Best bets:  Evan Harlan (5th); Whatlovelookslike (9th). Best value:  Inspiration Point (6th); Maiden Beauty (8th).
