Today’s New York Hot List races to watch – Sunday, April 11, 2021 at Aqueduct
By Matt Shifman and Bob Ehalt

Hot List Key:
 A:
A preferred horse to watch                         B: Secondary horse to watch
*C: Went down 2 or more betting notches and finished 1st through 3rd
*D: Went down 2 or more betting notches and finished 4th or worse
* - 4 or more betting notches if 11-1 or more.

4th race [Plenty of Grace, 1 mi TURF] – (5) Regal Glory will make her 2021 debut for Chad Brown. She was last seen winning the Ladies Turf (G3) at Kentucky Downs in September. In 2019, she was the winner of three consecutive stakes races, two of them at Saratoga. (4) Counterparty Risk won the Endeavour(G3) at Tampa Downs in February for Brown. (7) Call Me Love will make her first start of the year for Christophe Clement after racing exclusively in graded stakes since coming to America last summer. (9) Myhartblongstodady has used her early speed to advantage in the past. She came back in a speedy Grade 2 in March at Tampa.

5th race [NY, Md 40000, 6F] – (1) Bella Principessa (D) was bet down from 8-1 to 6-1 in her second career start and once again was hard to handle on the racetrack. After an awkward start, she rallied from last to fourth. (8) Bella Domenica (C) ran a creditable second in a similar spot last time after getting bet from 12-1 to 8-1. (4) Cazilda Fortytales returns from a December layoff where she set the pace and ran second. Trainer Robert Klesaris does not run many horses off long layoffs but when he does, they are ready for a top performance. (9) Ob La Di had a promising debut against open company at Tampa when he pressed the pace and finished third.

7th race [Clm 16000 N2L, 6F] – (10) Joint and Several was a debut winner for a $30,000 tag which makes this $16,000 claimer ideal. He then was fourth going a mile in a starter allowance. His last start was in January and it looks bad for $25,000 on a muddy track and now blinkers go on. (4) Brunate broke his maiden by eight-lengths for $25,000 against NY-breds in his second start off a layoff. I have seen these types come back and win their next start. (5) Gratto Swing gets blinkers on in his third start of the year following a layoff. He broke his maiden for $40,000 against NY-breds in his 2021 debut. (11) The Big S was claimed last time when he ran second in a race where the third-place horse came back to win.

8th race [Clm 20000, 6F] – (2) Kosciuszko (B) had a bad start, rushed up the inside while under restraint and then when he was moved outside, he came up empty. (3) Durkin’s Call tried a stakes race at Aqueduct last time after being claimed in his prior two starts where he ran second both times. (1) The Caretaker was claimed in five out of his last six starts, twice it was voided. He will move from state-bred competition to this open claimer. New trainer Wayne Potts gave him a break since January. (6) Popizar was claimed for $40,000 two races back and then tried an allowance race and now he moves back to what looks like the right racing level.

Best bets:  Regal Glory (4th); Bella Principessa (5th). Best value:  Joint and Several (7th); Kosciuszko (8th).
