By Matt Shifman and Bob Ehalt

Hot List Key:
 A:
A preferred horse to watch                         B: Secondary horse to watch
*C: Went down 2 or more betting notches and finished 1st through 3rd
*D: Went down 2 or more betting notches and finished 4th or worse
* - 4 or more betting notches if 11-1 or more.

2nd race [Md 50000, 7F] – (1A) West Star (D) was bet down from 6-1 to 4-1 for the Asmussen barn, got pinched back at the start, and was claimed. The new trainer tries him against open company. (6) Nieuwendyk was third in a maiden special weight last month at Aqueduct and drops in for a tag for the first time in his third start. (7) Iron Man Jimmy moves from turf to dirt in his third start and as a son of Jimmy Creed he should like the dirt as he tries a claimer for the first time also. (5) Outlaw Country will make his first start after being claimed by Charlie Baker who has positive stats with his new runners and the blinkers go on.

4th race [Clm 14000B, 6F] – (3) Monshun was claimed last time for $25,000 from an open claiming race, moves to the restricted condition, and drops in price. In her prior start she won a N2L $40,000 claimer on the lead. (4) Sweet as Sugar returns from a brief freshening with a drop in class and is projected to be on the lead. (7) Triple P has three wins and qualifies because she is a 3-year-old. She moves to the Rob Atras barn and attracts Irad Ortiz. (5) High School Crush goes back to the main track after three turf races with a second on the dirt in a N3L condition and makes a big class drop.

5th race [NY, Md 25000, 1 mi] – (4) Gimmebackmybullets (D) was bet down from 6-1 to 3-1 and ran fourth after a wide trip at Aqueduct. Blinkers are added now. (2) Sense a Giant ran his best race on the dirt when it came off the turf. He had three other grass starts and all of them were against stronger maiden conditions. (6) Makart will make his third start following a layoff. In his two recent races he had trouble with a seven wide trip and a poor start. (1) Maythisbetheone makes his second start following a long layoff and could wake up in here.

8th race [OC 62k/N2X, 1 mi] – (4) Missy Greer has three strong finishes between starts in stakes races. She exits a front-end victory in a first-level allowance and is projected to be a clear pace setter in this field. (1) Hoodooland broke her maiden and then won an allowance in consecutive starts in Maryland for Shug McGaughey. Last time she set the pace in a Keeneland allowance but faded going a bit longer. (2) Corey won two Handicaps at Gulfstream Park between four tries in stakes including a fifth in the Pumpkin Pie during the BAQ meeting. (5) Tap the Faith ran third after a three month layoff which came after a first-level allowance win for Christophe Clement.

Best bets:  Monshun (4th); Gimmebackmybullets (5th). Best value:  West Star (2nd); Missy Greer (8th).
