Aqueduct Hotlist - December 9

December 8, 2021

Today’s New York Hot List races to watch – Thursday, December 9, 2021 at Aqueduct
By Matt Shifman and Bob Ehalt

Hot List Key:
 A:
A preferred horse to watch                         B: Secondary horse to watch
*C: Went down 2 or more betting notches and finished 1st through 3rd
*D: Went down 2 or more betting notches and finished 4th or worse
* - 4 or more betting notches if 11-1 or more.

1st race [NY, Md Sp Wt, 1 mi] – (7) Noli Temere (B) was well bet in her debut at 9-2. She was in last in a large field in the early going and then passed half the horses on the inside on a day when the rail was not the place to be. (5) Wicked Lady ran third in her first start for Kenny McPeek at odds of 6-1. McPeek has left her to train at Belmont Park to race against fellow state-breds. (4) Queen’s Warrant will make her first career start for a hot trainer in Graham Motion. Her dam was stakes-placed as a 2-year-old. (1) Caragate was second in her last two starts including a mile most recently. She had trouble at the start of all of her races.

2nd race [NY, Md 40000, 6F] – (10) Eudaimonia (D) was bet down in her first start from 6-1 to be the 4-1 favorite, finished fourth, and was claimed away from Rob Atras by Rick Schosberg for today’s tag of $40,000. (9) Jet Set Juliet set the paced in her first start and finished second in the same race as the Hot List horse. (7) Boom Roasted will make her debut for Tom Morley who gets excellent results with his horses that first start for a tag. It is a bit curious that she was a $110,000 purchase. (3) The Honorable Ruth hit the board in all three starts which happened at three different New York tracks in maiden special weights.

6th race [OC 62k/N2X, 6F] – (4) Greatest Love (B) was pulled to the back of the field, then bolted around the turn at Belmont, rallied to get second, and was claimed. New trainer Rob Falcone usually improves horses in their first start for his barn. (2) Oxana gets some class relief heading into this spot and she will need it with speed figures falling in her last few starts. However, those races were in stakes where she ran fourth and second. (3) Dealing Justice returned from a May layoff when she won a first-level allowance and set the pace and finish fourth at Aqueduct. (6) Bold Confection won her last two at Parx in a convincing manner in a maiden special weight and an allowance.

7th race [Clm 25000 N2L, 6 ½ F] – (4) Rickys Revenge broke his maiden for a $30,000 tag at Aqueduct last start and makes the preferred move to a N2L condition with a lower claiming price than his maiden breaker. (5) Raven Rocks came back from a ten-month layoff to run third and now Kendrick Carmouche gets back on board as he drops into a N2L for the first time. (2) Magnificent Chrome has been close at this level before and Aqueduct is where he broke his maiden for a $40,000 tag. (3) Hangar One has five career third-placed finishes and speed figures as good as any horse in the field.

Best bets:  Noli Temere (1st); Greatest Love (6th). Best value:  Eudaimonia (2nd); Rickys Revenge (7th).
