By Matt Shifman and Bob Ehalt

Hot List Key:
 A:
A preferred horse to watch                         B: Secondary horse to watch
*C: Went down 2 or more betting notches and finished 1st through 3rd
*D: Went down 2 or more betting notches and finished 4th or worse
* - 4 or more betting notches if 11-1 or more.

2nd race [Clm 16000 N2L, 6F] – (3) Brockmoninoff moved from turf to dirt, dropped down in claiming price last time, and set the pace while finishing second in a similar N2L spot. (5) I’m Blaming You broke his maiden on the dirt and then raced against a better class of horses on the turf in his last two races. (1) Black Irish broke his maiden in April at Aqueduct for a $25,000 tag and then came back from a seven-month layoff to run twice for that same claiming price. (6) Mr Fantasy broke his maiden for $40,000 at Aqueduct in March and then like Black Irish had some time off. This will be his third start following the layoff.

3rd race [NY, Md 25000, 6F] – (7) Sonic Speed (D) was bet down from 8-1 to 6-1 and got pinched back at the start, clipped heels, rushed up on the outside to be second, and faded to fifth. Rider change to Jose Lezcano. (1) Data Deal will make his third start following a layoff after setting the pace and finishing third in an open company maiden claimer last time when he moved from turf to dirt. (2) Tamburro’s Sox pressed the pace and ran second at this level last time for David Donk as his form improved since moving to the Aqueduct main track. (3) Boom Boom Kaboom was a contender in his recent starts at the $40,000 level and now drops down to this class for the first time.

7th race [Alw 82000 N1X, 1 1/8 mi] – (6) Winter Pool had his best results going the nine-furlong distance and that should give him an edge in this field where most of them look better suited to a mile. (4) Dust Devil also has established form going the 1 1/8 mile distance or longer. The Bill Mott runner has two past wins at Aqueduct. (5) Waxman broke his maiden at the Big A last month beating a Shug McGaughey runner that came back to win at Gulfstream Park the other day. (1) No Burn won a starter allowance with a big speed figure at Aqueduct last time out.

8th race [NY, Rego Park, 6 ½ F] – (2) G Munning was a debut winner for John Kimmel as the favorite in a nine-horse field. He beat a promising horse that came back to win his next start impressively. (7) Daufuskie Island was a first-out winner at Saratoga and has since competed exclusively in NY-bred stakes with a second and a pair of thirds. He recently changed to the barn of Kelly Breen. (9) Doin’ittherightway finished second in an allowance at the Big A behind Hagler who ran in the Jerome the other day. He is a stakes winner at Finger Lakes against state-breds. (4) Unique Unions broke his maiden two races back at Aqueduct and came right back to set the pace and finish third in the NY Stallion Series stake for 2-year-olds.

Best bets:  Winter Pool (7th); G Munning (8th). Best value:  Brockmoninoff (2nd); Sonic Speed (3rd).
