March 10, 2022

Today’s New York Hot List races to watch – Friday, March 11, 2022 at Aqueduct
By Matt Shifman and Bob Ehalt

Hot List Key:
 A:
A preferred horse to watch                         B: Secondary horse to watch
*C: Went down 2 or more betting notches and finished 1st through 3rd
*D: Went down 2 or more betting notches and finished 4th or worse
* - 4 or more betting notches if 11-1 or more.

2nd race [Clm 40000 N2L, 1 mi] – (6) Royal Realm (A) raced on the outside the entire time in his last two starts on tracks that were favoring the inside runners. He now drops out of a starter allowance back to the N2L condition. (1) Centavo was claimed out of his first start since August where he ran a close up fourth for a $16,000 tag. He does have some back races against tougher competition if he can step forward off that layoff. (5) Quickflash was claimed from his last start. He has hit the board nine times although clearly he is a bit camera shy. (2) Bar Fourteen was also claimed from his last start where he ran third in his only third race on the dirt.

3rd race [NY, Md 40000, 1 mi] – (5) Salute to America was third last time and will make the drop down from maiden special weight to maiden claimer for the first time for Tom Morley while getting Lasix. (9) Reservation will make his second career start for Rudy Rodriguez and that means there is less negative things that you can say about this guy compared to the rest of the field. He will get blinkers on after breaking slowly on a sloppy and sealed track in his debut. (6) Wild Carp Diem has never run on a fast track in four starts with three on sloppy tracks and his first race was on the grass. Those four races were not bad and a dry track could make a difference. (8) Devious Banker ran his two best races at this $40,000 level.

4th race [Alw 50000s, 1 mi] – (5) Kerik (C) was bet down from 5-1 to 3-1 and finished second after making a fast, middle move while racing very wide the entire way. (3) Bella Principessa won 2 out of her last 3 starts including a N3L condition on a muddy track last time with a late rally. Her last three speed figures top this field. (7) Girl of Toscanova was a six-length winner of her last start going the mile at Aqueduct also in a N3L claimer. (6) To a T was third behind the second choice last time with some back class and good efforts in starter allowances.

5th race [NY, Md Sp Wt, 6F] – (9) Bavarian Creme (A) ran third in her debut at Aqueduct after being hard to load in the gate and then racing wide against a track that was favoring the inside paths. (6) One Track Mine was a promising second in her debut last year as a 2-year-old at Belmont Park in July for David Donk. Now, she is back with blinkers on and with Lasix for the first time. (8) Sister Luck showed speed in her first two starts for Todd Pletcher at Fair Grounds last year, then tried the turf in a drop down to a maiden claimer where she was claimed at Saratoga by Joe Lee, former assistant for Kiaran McLaughlin. She has been off since then.

Best bets:  Royal Realm (2nd); Salute to America (3rd). Best value:  Kerik (4th); Bavarian Creme (5th).

No.
