March 4, 2021

Today’s NY Hot List races to watch – Saturday, March 6, 2021 at Aqueduct
By Matt Shifman and Bob Ehalt

Hot List Key:
 A:
A preferred horse to watch                                       B: Secondary horse to watch
*C: Went down 2 or more betting notches and finished 1st through 3rd
*D: Went down 2 or more betting notches and finished 4th or worst
* - 4 or more betting notches if 11-1 or more.

1st race [NY, MSW, 1 mi] – (3) Destinationwnrscir (A) raced the widest of all last time on a racetrack that was favoring the inside runners and still finished a close second in an identical spot. (5) Duckphat was second in her much improved second career start which came after a November debut. (2) Stormi Cat Lady got a competitive speed figure when she finished second while dropping into a $40,000 maiden claimer for the first time. (1) Gallina added Lasix for the first time last race when she was third behind Duckphat and appears to be on the improve for the Bond barn.

2nd race [Clm 16000 N2L, 6 ½ F] – (3) Love Me Tomorrow (B) went to her knees at the break of her last start back in January. She was then rushed up to second, faded, and was eased down the stretch. She now returns and drops back down to a $16,000 level where two races back she was third after pushing the pace. (5) Mebs Web will cut back from two races going a mile to today’s sprint distance which should be a favorable change. (4) Mama Kin broke her maiden in December for a $40,000 tag and then tried two tough spots – a starter allowance and then $40,000 claimer. Now she drops to a favorable level for a horse that won a maiden claimer. (1A) Remoane is a filly that I have favored in the past. She broke her maiden last time for $25,000 and now faces winners for the first time.

3rd race [Clm 10000, 6F] – (5) Morgantown (B) - In his second race back from a long layoff, he stumbled badly at the break and raced very wide on a track that had an inside bias. Now he drops into a claimer for the first time since July for Linda Rice. (7) Ninth Hour will also make his third start off a long layoff and drops to the lowest claiming level of his career. Overall, he is the winner of four out of his last eight starts. (4) Professor Snape is a veteran of these low-level claiming races at Aqueduct where he has three wins. Last time he rallied for a close third for a $12,500 tag. (3) Diddley fits at this level of competition with a win for $12,500 back in January.

6th race [Busher Inv, 1 mi] – The Busher is a Kentucky Oaks qualifying race that offers qualifying points [50-20-10-4] to the top four finishers.  (6) Make Mischief (C) won her two most recent races at Aqueduct against NY-breds including last time in the Maddie May when she was bet down from 4-1 to be the 8-5 favorite. She moves to face open company while again racing at the one-turn mile. (1) Miss Brazil broke her maiden in November at Aqueduct for trainer Tony Dutrow and then stepped up in distance and class to win the Ruthless in February by more than six lengths while going seven furlongs. Rider Eric Cancel stays on board. (3) Search Results was a debut winner for Chad Brown at Gulfsteam Park as a 1.80-1 favorite when she recovered from a slow start to rally and win by four lengths. These type of Brown runners, who win impressively right out of the box, are capable of successfully making the jump to stakes company in their second start. (5) Mo Desserts is a daughter of Nyquist who sold for $310,000 as a yearling and won her maiden by 15 lengths in her second start for Jimmy Jerkens going the mile.

Best bets: Destinationwnrscir (1st); Morgantown (3rd). Best value:  Love Me Tomorrow (2nd); Make Mischief (6th).

Saturday Pick 3 Special --
The Saturday Special $1 Pick 3 is on races 1-3 à 3 with 3, 4, 5 with 3, 4, 5, 7 = $15.
