November 11, 2021

Today’s New York Hot List races to watch – Friday, November 12, 2021 at Aqueduct
By Matt Shifman and Bob Ehalt

Hot List Key:
 A:
A preferred horse to watch                         B: Secondary horse to watch
*C: Went down 2 or more betting notches and finished 1st through 3rd
*D: Went down 2 or more betting notches and finished 4th or worse
* - 4 or more betting notches if 11-1 or more.

4th race [Clm 25000 N2L, 1 mi] – (5) Giocare makes that favorable drop from good performances in a couple of starter allowances into a N2L claimer where at Saratoga he was second for a $40,000 tag. (1) Jerusalem Gates will make his second start for Linda Rice since a four-month layoff and drops in claiming price also. (1A) Make It in Ny ran third in a N2L claimer last month following a five-month break. (7) Mister Winston gets blinkers off and is listed as a new gelding as he makes his first start ever in an N2L condition for trainer Tom Morley who has been making all the right moves this autumn. (2) Speed Effect is a fitting name for this horse that likes to race on the lead and was claimed last time by Karl Broberg.

5th race [Md Sp Wt, 1 1/16 TURF] – (7) Fort Washington (A) in his debut for Shug McGaughey broke well, dropped back to last, and rallied wide to finish third at odds of 7-1. As with all of Shug’s runners, improvement is expected in his second start. (10) Parquetry ran second in his first career start for Barclay Tagg, a trainer who rarely has his young horses ready to run initially. (4) Order of Magnitude will make his first start for Chad Brown and Klaravich Stables as a $425,000 purchase back in April at Ocala. (3) Pioneering Spirit missed winning his first start in Ireland at the Curragh by just a neck back in July and has been training at Belmont since October for Todd Pletcher. Pletcher does not get many of these horses coming over from Europe and this one is for Team Valor.

7th race [NY, Alw 72000 N1X, 6F] – (6) Pretty Clever gets blinkers on and cuts back to sprinting where she had her best finishes for Mark Casse. (4) Towering Orbit will make her third career start which comes following a layoff from August when she won a maiden special weight at Saratoga in frontrunning fashion. (1) Blame It On Mary moves from turf to dirt. At the beginning of her career she broke her maiden and was stakes placed against state-breds on the main track. (8) Chasing Cara has hit the board many times and can be used in the trifecta.

8th race [Alw 82000 N1X, 1 mi TURF] – (5) Messidor (A) was bumped twice at the start, pinched back, and then stuck in traffic but still managed to finish third once clear beaten by just over a length. (2) Evvie Jets has pair of narrow losses in her last two races against similar company and was ahead of the Hot List horse in both of those starts. (9) Baseline Drive won a starter allowance at the end of the Saratoga meeting and then was third in an allowance at Belmont for Mark Hennig. (6) So Enchanting broke her maiden in her most recent race at Belmont for Chad Brown.

Best bets:  Giocare (4th); Fort Washington (5th). Best value:  Pretty Clever (7th); Messidor (8th).

No.
