Aqueduct Hotlist - November 14

November 13, 2021

Today’s New York Hot List races to watch – Sunday, November 14, 2021 at Aqueduct
By Matt Shifman and Bob Ehalt

Hot List Key:
 A:
A preferred horse to watch                         B: Secondary horse to watch
*C: Went down 2 or more betting notches and finished 1st through 3rd
*D: Went down 2 or more betting notches and finished 4th or worse
* - 4 or more betting notches if 11-1 or more.

2nd race [NY, Md 40000, 7F] – (2) V Pattern will drop into the claiming ranks for the first time, which is a 29% winning move for trainer Horatio DePaz. He was bet down to 4-1 in his last start. He ran against good fields in all three of his starts. (3) Damilano had a freshening since Saratoga and in eight career starts ran only once on a dry track. He is a known quantity at this level. (4) Top of the Mint comes back from a year off for Mark Hennig with past races that could win against this field. (1) El Mayor exits his best race which was on the turf. He began his career on the dirt in Florida but obviously those maiden special weights were against open company.

6th race [NY, Md Sp Wt, 6F] – (3) Scherzando ran the best race of his career in a second start following a layoff. He was second in that race at Belmont where he improved from last and earned his best speed figure. (4) Forty Comets ran twice and finished third twice, although his recent start on a dry track was a better effort. (7) BC Glory Days set the pace and faded going a mile last time and should appreciate the cutback in distance with a chance to control this race out of the gate. (6) Brew Pub hit the board in his last three starts and also moves to a shorter sprint where he has a pair of second-place finishes.

7th race [NY, Alw 72000 N1X, 6F TURF] – (9) War Terminator (C) made his second career start after a debut victory, was bet down to be the favorite, and rallied to just miss another win by a neck. (3) Uncle George (B) returned from a year off, broke slowly, and then got stuck in traffic. His form looks muddied up in his last two starts. (6) King Angelo has yet to run a bad race in his career with seven starts. He broke his maiden at Saratoga this summer and then was third in his first try against winners. He is working fast before his first start since running at the Spa. (10) Coragescontender has moved from open company to NY-bred races frequently and between sprints and routes. He beat open company last time sprinting at Belmont Park and should be able to close into a fast pace here.

9th race [Clm 16000 N2L, 7F] – (11) Rainbow Gal returns from a May layoff and moves from a state-bred allowance and stake to this N2L condition for the first. She broke her maiden for a $40,000 tag, so this is probably an appropriate spot for her. (4) Dom’s Feisty Girl was an easy winner in a NY-bred maiden claimer in her first start for new trainer Michelle Nevin following a five-month layoff. (1) Carly Hustle is part of an entry who did her best running on dry dirt tracks which was only once in her last four starts. (8) Back Channel ran very well on the main track at Aqueduct last year and recently made four starts on the turf for Rudy Rodriguez. She does have early speed and gets Luis Saez in the saddle.

Best bets:  War Terminator (7th); Rainbow Gal (9th). Best value:  V Pattern (2nd); Scherzando (6th).

No.
