Today’s New York Hot List races to watch – Friday, November 6, 2020 at Aqueduct
By Matt Shifman and Bob Ehalt

Hot List Key:
 A:
A preferred horse to watch                           B: Secondary horse to watch
*C: Went down 2 or more betting notches and finished 1st through 3rd
*D: Went down 2 or more betting notches and finished 4th or worse
* - 4 or more betting notches if 11-1 or more.

1st race – (4) Love Me Tomorrow (C) was bet down from 7-1 to 7-2 in a NY-bred maiden claimer and finished third after setting the pace. Now she drops to a lower tag. (10) Crick rallied late to finish just a nose from the win on a sloppy track at Belmont Park. (7) Mia Bea Star was fourth last time out for a $40,000 tag and returns for $25,000. (2) Misty Taste drops out of the maiden special weight ranks after two starts for Kelly Breen after moving to his barn from that of Jason Servis. His speed figures fit with this group of NY-breds.

7th race – (3) Microsecond (D) was bet down to favoritism from 5-1 to 2-1 in a NY-bred allowance on the turf where he did not get the lead in the early going as he had in prior starts. The Pletcher/Repole runner returns in a similar spot. (1) Sanctuary City got a big speed figure in a state-bred turf stakes race at Belmont and now he drops back to an allowance where he ran third and second earlier in the year. (4) Matty’s Express will try NY-bred company for the first time after racing against open company at Monmouth Park and Tampa Bay Downs for Kelly Breen. (5) Quiet Out East was second in a similar race last month for trainer Bruce Brown who had a strong Belmont meeting.

8th race – (4) Malathaat (A) was a debut winner for Todd Pletcher as an odds-on favorite going seven furlongs at Belmont. The $1.05 million yearling purchase by Shadwell Stable will now try the Tempted going a one-turn mile. (6) Café Society (B) was also a winner in her first start at Belmont at odds of 10-1 for Shug McGaughey. (2) American West won her first start for Chad Brown in a race where the second place finisher came back to win her next time out. (5) Spa Ready found the winner’s circle in her initial try also for Chad Brown.

9th race – (7) Texas Basin (C) was bet down from 5-1 to 3-1 in his second career start in race that came off the turf. On a good Belmont dirt track he rallied up the rail to break his maiden for George Weaver. Now he comes back on the turf in the Atlantic Beach. (5) Trade Deal broke his maiden at Kentucky Downs and then had to check in traffic in the Futurity (G3) at Belmont. (4) Whatmakessammyrun moved to the turf in his second start and won by more than eight lengths also for Weaver. He’ll cutback from seven to six furlongs. (9) Phantom Smoke was the 2.40-1 favorite in his debut for Christophe Clement and won that race at Belmont by more than length.

Best bets:  Love Me Tomorrow (1st); Malathaat (8th). Best value:  Microsecond (7th); Texas Basin (9th).
