Belmont Park Hotlist - July 3

July 1, 2020

Today’s New York Hot List races to watch – Friday, July 3, 2020 at Belmont Park
By Matt Shifman and Bob Ehalt

Hot List Key:
 A:
A preferred horse to watch                           B: Secondary horse to watch
*C: Went down 2 or more betting notches and finished 1st through 3rd
*D: Went down 2 or more betting notches and finished 4th or worse
* - 4 or more betting notches if 11-1 or more.

4th race – (1) Dancingwthdaffodls (C) returned after nearly six months off and switched to the turf to be beaten by only a head in a NY-bred allowance. She was bet down from 7-1 to 5-1 and now moves back to this $50,000 starter allowance. (2) Cape Cod Diva (C) dropped out of the starter allowance ranks, changed to the turf and finished second in a N3L at Belmont Park three weeks ago. (6) Overtime Olivia (C) was heavily bet from 9-1 to 9-2 when she got nipped at the wire after holding the lead in a N3L dirt sprint and goes back to the grass here. (7) Keota went to Chad Brown from Jason Servis’ closed barn. She was last seen contending for the top spot in stakes on the turf and has speed figures that best this field.

8th race – [(2) Yankee Division (D) was heavily bet on June 11 to go from 13-1 to 8-1 even though he had shown a dislike for muddy tracks. He gets blinkers on for this first-level NY-bred allowance and needs a dry track./(2B) Big Thicket completes the Rudy Rodgriguez entry.] [(1) Danny California/(1A) Vintage Hollywood make a formidable entry for Orlanda Noda.] (7) Run for Boston came close to winning at this allowance level and we will have to assume that the muddy track was not to his liking last time out. (5) Bourbon Bay needed his last start and now drops from three NY-bred stakes races to this first appearance in allowance company.

9th race – (1) Bridlewood Cat (B) went to her knees when she stumbled out of the gate in her last start in the Correction at Aqueduct in March. Falling far behind she was forced to rally which went against her usual running style and she finished fourth beaten by less than a length for the win. Now, she switches to the turf for the first time. (8) Dalika won her 2020 debut at Churchill Downs for trainer Al Stall Jr. She placed in graded stakes races in the past. (7) Miss Auramet probably has the most early speed in the field and switches to the barn of Jorge Duarte for Colts Neck Stable after racing in Florida. (3) Getmotherarose will get a good pace set-up for her late running style. She was a Grade 3 winner in February.

10th race – (9) Adios Amigos (C) was bet down from 6-1 to 3-1 on June 4 at Belmont Park while making his 2020 debut and dropping into a maiden claimer for the first time. He rallied for second while well ahead of the rest of the field and now returns to the turf. (6) Shandian will return to the NY-bred ranks after running just two weeks ago when he had to steady near the wire during a strong rally. (7) Our Troubadour moved back to the turf and registered his career best speed figure, losing by just a nose, and now faces a similar field. (10) Determined One ran third in his 2020 debut after eight months off and switches to the turf for Tom Morley.

Best bets: Yankee Divison (8th); Adios Amigos (10th). Best value: Dancingwthdaffdls (4th); Bridlewood Cat (9th).
