By Matt Shifman and Bob Ehalt

Hot List Key:

A preferred horse to watch                         B: Secondary horse to watch
*C: Went down 2 or more betting notches and finished 1st through 3rd
*D: Went down 2 or more betting notches and finished 4th or worse
* - 4 or more betting notches if 11-1 or more.

2nd race [Md Sp Wt, 6F TURF] – (3) Gailhorsewind (A) broke slowly in her debut for Linda Rice and then had to race seven wide and still rallied well. (8) Quick Conversation was second in her first two races in turf sprints for Christophe Clement and now gets the barn’s top rider in Joel Rosario. Many consider Rosario to be the best jockey in sprints on the grass. (1) Isle of White will make her American debut for Chad Brown, Peter Brant, and Irad Ortiz after racing in France. (7) Six Feet Apart set the pace and finished third in her first start at Keeneland for Wesley Ward.

3rd race [Alw 92000 N1X, 6 ½ F] – (1) Wudda U Think Now (C) ran a career best speed figure last time when second in a NY-bred stake while getting bet down from 7-1 to 7-2. (6) Reinvestment Risk makes his 2021 debut after a strong 2-year-old campaign which began with a first-time win and was followed by two seconds behind Jackie’s Warrior in Grade 1s. (3) Following Sea was transferred from the barn of Bob Baffert to Todd Pletcher in the wake of recent controversy. He was an open length winner of his second start at Santa Anita over a horse that came back to win his next start. (4) Life Changer will make his first start of the year. At Belmont Park last summer, he won his debut race and has been off since July.

4th race [NY, Md Sp Wt, 6F TURF] – (10) Sheriff Bianco (C) was second in his first start of the year on the Aqueduct grass for Wesley Ward after racing last year at Royal Ascot. He set the pace and got caught after getting bet down from 5-1 to 6-5. (3) Majestic Tiger (B) broke slowly and then had to race six wide and still rallied for second in a maiden claimer for the Asmussen barn. (8) Fast Gordon made his first start of this year and ran third in a similar spot for Linda Rice. (7) Dustgetsinyoureyes was third in his debut in November at the Big A where he set the pace and finished third in a route on the grass.

7th race [Astoria, 5 ½ F] – (3) Constitutional Gal (C) was third in her first start on the turf for Mark Casse after getting bet down from 5-1 to 3-1. (4) Happy Soul broke her maiden by almost 12 lengths in her second start for Wesley Ward at Belmont after catching a sloppy track in her debut. (1) She’s So Shiny was second in her debut behind a return winner at Keeneland for a low-profile trainer. (6) American Bound broke her maiden at first asking for Joe Sharp at Keeneland and then tried a stake at Churchill Downs that was run on a sloppy track.

Best bets:  Wudda U Think Now (3rd); Sheriff Bianco (4th). Best value: Gailhorsewind (2nd); Constitutional Gal (7th).
