Today’s NY Hot List races to watch – Saturday, May 7, 2022 at Belmont Park

1st race [Clm 40000, 1 1/16 mi] – (1) Two Thirty Five (A) had a rough trip in which he got bumped, raced six-wide, battled down the stretch, and lost a head bob. (4) Lil Commissioner gets some class relief after racing against top allowance horses and drops into a claimer for the first time in almost two years. (3) Crypto Cash was claimed from his last two starts, both of which were victories. (5) Supreme Aura will stretch back out to a distance where he has two wins and on a track where he has two wins.

7th race [Md Sp Wt, 6 ½ F] – (6) Run Up the Score (A) had trouble in his debut for Chad Brown when she was bumped and checked at the start then raced very wide to finish third. (1) Jabberwock (D) was bet down from 13-1 to 9-1 in her second start. (2) Don’t Overlook Me will make her debut for Todd Pletcher after training in Florida. She was a $390,000 2-year-old purchase. (4) Demandsrespect faced five different return winners including Kentucky Oaks runner Kathleen O. in her first two starts for Chad Brown and comes back from a November layoff.

8th race [Fort Marcy (G2), 1 1/8 mi TURF] – (3) City Man was an impressive winner with a very high speed figure in the Danger’s Hour at Aqueduct following a winter layoff for Christophe Clement. (4) King Cause has steadily improved in his last three starts including a stakes win at Turfway Park. (7) Doswell returns from four months off after last being seen in the Pegasus World Cup Turf (G1) and a win in a Grade 2 before that. (6) Rockemperor has been away since November when he was racing in Grade 1 races for Chad Brown winning the Turf Classic at Belmont in October.

9th race [Alw 92000 N1X, 6F TURF] – (5) Stony Point was a debut winner at Tampa and came back to run second in an allowance at Aqueduct last month for Shug McGaughey. (10) Mac the Pee H Dee cut back in distance to break his maiden at the Big A in a turf sprint for Colts Neck Stable and Jorge Duarte. (6) Charlee O won her first start at Belmont and then tried stakes races three times. (4) Screamin’ By returns from a November layoff for David Donk after solid performances at this level.

 

Best bets: Run Up the Score (7th); Stony Point (9th). Best value: Two Thirty Five (1st); City Man (8th).
