By Matt Shifman and Bob Ehalt

Hot List Key:
 A:
A preferred horse to watch                         B: Secondary horse to watch
*C: Went down 2 or more betting notches and finished 1st through 3rd
*D: Went down 2 or more betting notches and finished 4th or worse
* - 4 or more betting notches if 11-1 or more.

2nd race [NY, Md Sp Wt, 1 mi] – (5) Resilient Courage ran the best race of his three-race career with the addition of blinkers and the move back to the dirt when his race came of the grass. Trainer Donk leaves him on the main track here after that second, following a less than ideal trip. (1A) Cozzy’s Attitude was well bet in his first two starts and then tried a NY-bred stake. Rosario goes back on board. (2B) Knightly Mischief will now run for Jeremiah Englehart so that this NY-bred owned by Kenny McPeek can continue to run against state-breds. He was fourth last time at Saratoga. (6) Sterling Hill gets blinkers on as he ships up from Delaware Park to face NY-breds for the first time after two races.

3rd race [Alw 50000s, 6 ½ F] – (6) Jake Rocks faced better horses in his last two starts where he finished second, beaten by a bit more than a length by Baby Yoda. (3) Supply and Demand gets blinkers on, which is a very positive move for trainer Tony Dutrow, who claimed this guy two races back after a win in a N2L condition. (4) Copa won two claiming races in his last three starts on the front end and should use that strategy again in this spot. (5) Mr. Briggs was second in a similar spot two starts ago after being claimed for $50,000 by Linda Rice.

4th race [NY, Md Sp Wt, 1 1/16 mi TURF] – (6) Tingling Mint raced wide and closed well in her debut at Saratoga for Christophe Clement and finished third at 8-1. (5) Out of Sight was third in her first start following a trainer change to David Donk after, she too, had to go wide. (3) Caumett set the pace and got nailed at the wire in a similar spot at Belmont Park last month. (4) Lady Thornhill ran her best race two back with Jose Ortiz riding and now he gets back on after she digressed in her last race against two horses that are also back in this spot.

8th race [Alw 92000 N1X, 1 mi TURF] – (3) Messidor was third, beaten by a neck, in her last start which was her first for Clement and just her second in America. (8) Contained has two wins and a second this year. She broke her maiden at Delaware Park and then won a $62,500 claimer at Belmont in June. She was second last time in an allowance at Monmouth Park and this will be her sixth career start. (1) Evvie Jets was claimed for $80,000 from an OC allowance at Belmont where she finished ahead of the top choice in a blanket finish. (4) Windfall Profit finished third after an awkward start behind a return winner in her most recent race at Saratoga.

Best bets:  Jake Rocks (3rd); Messidor (8th). Best value: Resilient Courage (2nd); Tingling Mint (4th).
