October 23, 2020

Today’s New York Hot List races to watch – Sunday, October 25, 2020 at Belmont Park
By Matt Shifman and Bob Ehalt

Hot List Key:
 A:
A preferred horse to watch                           B: Secondary horse to watch
*C: Went down 2 or more betting notches and finished 1st through 3rd
*D: Went down 2 or more betting notches and finished 4th or worse
* - 4 or more betting notches if 11-1 or more.

2nd race – (2) So Enchanting (B) was sent off as the favorite in her debut for Chad Brown, had the lead at the stretch call, and ended up second. (7) Amalfi Princess finished fourth as a maiden in the Matron (G3) just two weeks ago for Mike Maker and returns on the turf in this maiden special weight. (4) Coworth Park is a Todd Pletcher first-time starter out of a Claiborne Farm mare who has produced three winners from four to race with two stakes winners. (1) Miss Brazil is another debut runner. This filly is trained by Tony Dutrow and is out of a mare who is four for four with winners including a second-place finisher in the Saratoga Special (G2).

3rd race – (5) Siena Magic (B) returns from a layoff back to Saratoga 2019 when he was second by a neck in a N3L condition. He was claimed from that race by Charlie Baker and was gelded since then. Now a 5-year-old, he has past speed figures that are better than most in this field of $35,000 N3L claimers. (3) Fed Funds will drop down to a much better spot after three races in starter and regular allowances. He won a maiden claimer and then that starter allowance. (6) Wicksters Dream was claimed twice at Saratoga, most recently from an open claimer by David Duggan and is a new gelding also. Duggan is currently a 30% winner with his first off the claim runners. (8) Money Ride will make his first start for Mike Miceli and return to New York from Woodbine. Last winter at Aqueduct he won twice.

4th race – (1) Windfall Profit (B) had some trouble at the start and fell behind what turned out to be a very slow pace. In a first-level allowance on the grass, she got within a length of the top spot. Joel Rosario gets back aboard for Shug McGaughey. (6) Crystalle returned from a long layoff to make her 2020 debut and run fourth. She was a stakes winner as a 2-year-old. (2) Gogo Shoes was second in a tough allowance field at Belmont Park last time out. (3) Eye of a Soldier earned speed figures in her last three races that top this field for Bill Mott.

6th race – (8) Vitesse (B) raced greenly when last seen back in June, first on the rail and then out wide he finished second in a N2L condition like today. (10) Economic Policy broke his maiden for a $16,000 tag for Chad Brown last time in his first run on the dirt and comes back for the same claiming price on the main track. (7) Mucho Boy pressed the pace last time and finished third on a sloppy track. His maiden score came at Belmont. (1) Quintarelli ran several races during the winter that would win against this field. He drops down to the lowest claiming price of his career.

Best bets:  So Enchanting (2nd); Windfall Profit (4th). Best value:  Siena Magic (3rd); Vitesse (6th).
