Today’s New York Hot List races to watch – Friday, October 30, 2020 at Belmont Park
By Matt Shifman and Bob Ehalt

Hot List Key:
 A:
A preferred horse to watch                           B: Secondary horse to watch
*C: Went down 2 or more betting notches and finished 1st through 3rd
*D: Went down 2 or more betting notches and finished 4th or worse
* - 4 or more betting notches if 11-1 or more.

2nd race – (2) Unprecedented returns from a brief freshening and drops back to the N2L condition after racing well in a pair of starter allowances at Saratoga. In his last appearance in a race similar to this spot he was second going six furlongs on the grass at Belmont Park. (3) Quid will make his first appearance in the N2L condition after racing in starter allowance and open claimers. He broke his maiden at Belmont for today’s $40,000 tag and also moves back to a sprint where he won. (5) Jake Rocks is now a gelding and will drop down to this N2L condition for the first time for trainer David Donk. He won a maiden special weight at Aqueduct and has been facing mostly allowance fields since then. (4) Dubai Bobby has competitive speed figures in starter allowances and now drops in this restricted type of race for the first time.

3rd race – (7) Suspended Campaign was third in her debut two races back in a maiden special weight for Chad Brown. She had an awkward start next time while stretching out to a mile and now cuts back to six furlongs and drops in for a $50,000 tag. (6) Thegoddessofsnakes made her debut in a stakes race at Delaware Park on a sloppy sealed track. (5) To the Tune made her first start at Monmouth Park in a turf sprint for maiden special weights. (4) Well Kept Secret flashed speed in her debut at Belmont for the Steve Asmussen barn and now cuts back from seven furlongs.

5th race – (8) Wushu Warrior (C) was bet down from 8-1 to 6-1 when he won a $10,000 claimer on the front end which earned a top speed figure for this field. He will try and win a similar race a month later. (1) Ethan Hunt ran fourth for $12,500 after moving from turf to dirt and stays on the main track here. (4) Vicar’s Legend was third behind the victory of the top choice and has been bouncing around the claiming ranks. (9) Orpheus seeks some class relief has he drops to this low level. He has speed figures that make him a contender as he cuts back to a sprint.

6th race – (2) Wasp (A) missed a debut victory by just a neck for Todd Pletcher where he was bet down to 4-1 and finished well ahead of the rest of the field. Irad Ortiz gets the mount as the horse stretches out to a mile and a sixteenth. (1) Bella Domenica has been a consistent performer who has found a field where she is better than most of them. (4) Tabula Rasa gets Lasix for her second start after a turf debut at Saratoga for Michelle Nevin. (6) Portofina began her career racing on the dirt against open company. This will be her first start for trainer Tom Morley who moves her back to the main track but stays in NY-bred company.

Best bets:  Suspended Campaign (3rd); Wasp (6th). Best value:  Unprecedented (2nd); Wushu Warrior (5th).
