By Matt Shifman and Bob Ehalt

Hot List Key:
 A:
A preferred horse to watch                                 B: Secondary horse to watch
*C: Went down 2 or more betting notches and finished 1st through 3rd
*D: Went down 2 or more betting notches and finished 4th or worst
* - 4 or more betting notches if 11-1 or more.

2nd race [NY, Md 40000, 1 1/16 mi TURF] – (7) Arrowheart (B) went eight-wide and finished third in a race that was meant for the grass but was run on a fast track. This will be his third start following a long layoff. (9) Wicked Karma pressed the pace in his last two starts and faded down the stretch, but this race is void of any other early speed. (1) Noble Journey returned from a short layoff and got stuck running on the dirt. His previous turf races were all in maiden special weights. (3) Out of the Breech came back from a couple month break in a sprint and likely needed that race.

3rd race [NY, Sleepy Hollow, 1 mi] – (2) Overstep (A) was geared down in his debut win by almost seven lengths last month for Todd Pletcher and the ownership team of St. Elias and Repole Stables, who purchased this filly for $360,000 as a yearling. (4) Shipsational was also a first-out winner and recently won the Bongard for state-breds going seven-furlongs against a horse that won next out. (6) Sterling Hill broke his maiden in his first appearance against NY-breds after shipping up from Delaware Park. (3) Who Hoo Thats Me moved from a NY-bred stake to break his maiden going six furlongs at Belmont Park.

4th race [NY, Md Sp Wt, 6F TURF] – (4) U Should B Dancing (A) was steadied three times going down the backstretch and then had to go eight-wide for Rudy Rodriguez. (10) Palace Gossip will return from a 10-month layoff following two excellent starts for Tony Dutrow. She was second in an Aqueduct grass debut and then fourth against open company with plenty of early speed. (9) Sinfully Sweet flashed speed in her first start at Saratoga and then had to race on the dirt her second try. (3) Road to Remember was a contender in her last two starts which came when she was moved to the grass.

10th race [NY, Alw 80000, 7F TURF] – (12) War Terminator (C) made two starts in the spring, winning his debut for Jonathan Thomas and then was a well bet second in an allowance losing by just a neck. He’s back after a five-month layoff. (3) City Mischief (B) has been off since April when he ran fourth in an allowance where he had a rough trip following a maiden score against open company at Fair Grounds for Mark Casse. (5) King Angelo just does not run a bad race. His seven starts resulted in six top three finishes including his last two where he broke his maiden and then was third in an allowance. (7) Chrome Dixie returned from a couple of months off and missed by a nose in a N2L claimer after fighting with the jockey. He got claimed for $32,000 by Chad Summers.

Best bets:  Arrowheart (2nd); Overstep (3rd). Best value:  U Should B Dancing (4th); War Terminator (10th).
