1st race – (6) Sonic City (A) was sidelined for more than a year and finished a distant second. Should take a step forward here for a hot barn. (1) Vail of Honor may perk up back at Churchill Downs. (4) Miacomet should fare better in a claimer.  Betting strategy: 6 to win, place. Exacta box: 1-4-6.

3rd race – (4) Lady Protonico won here in the spring and seems to be running in a field where she can be a big threat. (3) Golden Account  might wake up at this level. (6) Time’s On My Side can be a contender in this spot. (5) Zero Point Zero could be tough to catch in this spot. Betting strategy: 4 to win, place. Exacta box: 3-4-5-6.

5th race – (6) American Mandate will welcome a return to dirt for this test. (3) Coltonator was a well-beaten second last time and can be the runner-up once again. (5) Verb can be a force on his best try. Betting strategy: 6 to win, place. Exacta box: 3-5-6.

8th race – (8) Home Brew switches to Cox’s barn after a sharp, winning debut and deserves top billing here. (1) Magnolia Midnight could strike with a big effort from the rail. (6) Baladi puts blinkers on and should show some improvement this time. (5) Blue Kentucky figures to be more effective in a sprint. Betting strategy: 8 to win, place. Exacta box: 1-5-6-8. Doubles; 1-5-6-8 with 1-8-9-10.

9th race – (1) Jaccaci (B) was fourth in both of her starts and seems ready for a winning effort from the rail. (8) Fast and Flirty was second in the slop and looks like the one to fear. (9) Social Matrix didn’t fire in her debut but can benefit from that experience, (10) Mitigation should not be ignored in her first start for Mott.  Betting strategy: 1 to win, place. Exacta box: 1-8-9-10.
