1st race – (5) Fabozzi set the pace on turf against better and settled for third. Can get the job done while returning to the main track. (6) Heartfullofstars should perk up against claimers. (3) Rickey B can make his presence felt here. Betting strategy: 5 to win, place. Exacta box: 3-5-6.

3rd race - (3) Border Town was competitive in a stakes despite a slow start and wide trip. Should be able to handle these. (6) North County Guy was a distant second last time but has been working nicely for this start. (2) Southern King exits a game win and should not be overlooked. (4) Proud Pedro promises to be more formidable in his second start after a layoff.  Betting strategy: 3 to win, place. Exacta box: 3-6. Exactas: 3-6 over 2-4 and 2-4 over 3-6.

5th race - (1) Miss Hot Legs should welcome the 5-furlong turf sprint distance at Del Mar, where she’s never been worse than third in four career starts, and will be helped by a rail trip. (2) Quarelle was third in a graded stakes and is the one to fear. (8) Fantasy Heat rallied for second in a Golden Gate stakes and will be a big factor here. (3) Sold It usually brings home a check and cannot be ignored. Betting strategy: 1 to win, place. Exacta box: 1-2-3-8.   

9th race – (3) Stealthediamonds was a game third to some top-level fillies last time out and may not look back from the rail. (6) Jo Jo Air ships in from Kentucky for Ward and could be a main factor. (8) Surrender Now is making her third start after a long layoff and may wind up in the exotics. (1) Lighthouse has sharp early speed and could be tough to catch from the rail. Betting strategy: 3 to win, place. Exacta box: 1-3-6-8.

11th race – (8) Succeedandsurpass rallied for fourth in his first start for new connections and may prove best here. (1) Lincoln City was a narrow second at big odds last time and may be the one to fear. (4) City Rage looms a threat in the final furlong. (2) Reprobate was impressive in his turf debut and merits consideration here. Betting strategy: 8 to win, place. Exacta box: 1-2-4-8.
