1st race – (2) Blitzkreig is not really suited by the 5-furlong distance but has too much class to be denied. (4) Sparky Ville should bounce back with a better effort. (3) Baja Sur ran well enough in his turf debut to be a factor here. Betting strategy: 2 to win, place. Exacta box: 2-3-4.

3rd race - (1) Lostintranzlation should rebound with a better effort now that she’s back with Baltas. (5) Tammy’s Window drops a notch and should be effective here. (11) Kittyhawk Lass promises to be a factor in the stretch run. (10) Ruby Bradley was a wide fifth in a sprint and will enjoy the extra distance here. Betting strategy: 1 to win, place. Exacta box: 1-5-10-11. Doubles: 1-5-10-11 with 3-7-10-11.

4th race – (7) Big Cheddar takes a big enough drop so that he should be hard to beat. (3) Bobs Blues Man was freshened after a dismal try and may wake up today. (11) Fight Me had a lackluster debut but fits better here. (10) Hudson River Park should thrive in a claimer. Betting strategy: 7 to win, place. Exacta box: 3-7-10-11.

8th race – (7) United was a game winner of a grade 1 stakes last time and seems ready for another big effort here. (2) Originaire had a rough trip behind United when he was moved up to second via a DQ. Will be a major threat today. (1) Bowies Hero should benefit from a ground-saving rail trip. (6) Neptune’s Storm usually grabs a piece of the purse and cannot be dismissed. Betting strategy: 7 to win, place. Exacta box: 2-7. Exactas: 2-7 over 1-6 and 1-6 over 2-7. Doubles: 3-4-7-11 with 1-3-4-5 and All with 5.

9th race – (10) Friar’s Road was out of his element in the Santa Anita Derby but should get his first win here against maidens. (9) Holden the Lute figures to turn in  a better effort for Baffert in his second try. (6) Charlito was second and third in his last two starts and belongs in the exotics. (3) Whirl Candy might appreciate a return to dirt. Betting strategy: 10 to win, place. Exacta box: 3-6-9-10.
