1st race – (9) Armonia was a good second in her debut and seems as good a choice as any to lift the curtain on the rejuvenated turf course at Gulfstream Park. (11) Go Mika should appreciate the two-turn distance. (10) Royal Jubilee could fare better on turf. (4) Black Ice may like a switch to turf. Betting strategy: 9 to win, place. Exacta box: 4-9-10-11.

3rd race – (7) Love in Paradise gets a jockey switch and might be tough to catch on the front end in this spot  (2) Sovereign of Speed was second, ahead of the top pick, last time and looks like the one to fear most. (5) Cupid’s Ghost may wake up with a class drop. (6) Twelve O’Clock is in sharp form and will be a threat. Betting strategy: 7 to win, place. Exacta box: 2-7. Exactas: 2-7 over 5-6 and 5-6 over 2-7.

5th race – (4) Chess’s Dream disappointed last time but should thrive at this level. (7) Astroturf could be a threat in the final furlong. (9) Uncle Armando comes off a win and should be fine on turf. (5) Plenum has early speed and might be touch to catch. Betting strategy: 4 to win, place. Exacta box: 4-5-7-9. Doubles: 4-5-7-9 with 1-3-5-6.

6th race – (5) Sassy But Precious was a good second in her debut and should graduate in this spot. (3) Turn On the Charm may improve with blinkers. (6) Jolly Miss Jill could be a threat in her debut. (1) Cajun Fantasy may be a factor in her debut. Betting strategy: 5 to win, place. Exacta box: 1-3-5-6.

8th race – (6) Empress Tigress (B) was a game second last time and seems ready for a winning effort here. (3) Constitutional Gal was a big winner at Woodbine and should be the key rival. (4) Lone and Money will be a threat if there’s no rust from a year layoff. (1) Miss Majorette will benefit from a speed duel. Betting strategy: 6 to win, place. Exacta box: 3-6. Exactas: 3-6 over 1-4 and 1-4 over 3-6.
