Today’s Gulfstream Park Hot List races to watch
Saturday, Dec. 5, 2020

By Bob Ehalt and Matt Shifman

Hot List Key:

A : A preferred horse to watch                   B: Secondary horse to watch
*C: Went down 2 or more betting notches in the final 3 minutes and finished 1st through 3rd
*D: Went down 2 or more betting notches and finished 4th or worse
* - 4 or more betting notches if 11-1 or more.

3rd race – (2) Voter Protection returns to turf, where he was fourth in his debut. Believe the distance will suit him as a son of More Than Ready, and he should prove best here. (12) Tiz Tact Toe had a useful debut when fourth and might like the added distance. (8) Fighting Force should rebound with a better effort while returning to turf. (10) Halfbarberbingie may benefit from his debut and can be a factor here. Betting strategy: 2 to win, place. Exacta box: 2-8-10-12.

5th race - (10) Jakarta tired in a Grade 2 stakes on synthetics but may not look back on turf. (9) Thinkin Cowtown was a game third last time and has been training nicely for this start. (7) Dahlonega was claimed out of a second place finish and should work out a good trip with Irad. (3) Sweet Yare N Dira won three of five starts during the summer in Canada and fits quite well here. Betting strategy: 10 to win, place. Exacta box: 3-7-9-10. Doubles: 3-7-9-10 with 1-2-3-7. Pick 3: 3-7-9-10 with 1-2-3-7 with 2-4-6-9.

6th race – (1) Storm Runner (C) dropped from 6-1 to 4-1 and then pressed the pace before taking charge in the stretch and rolling to a second straight win. Can make it a hat trick here. (2) Jesus’ Team was second in the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile and seems  a bit out of place here but is definitely the one to fear. (3) Treasure Trove will be dangerous off the Maker claim. (7) Dack Janiel’s looks like the pacesetter and could be tough to catch if he can slow down the pace enough. Betting strategy: 1 to win, place. Exacta box: 1-2-3-7. Doubles: 1-2-3-7 with 2-4-6-9.

7th race – (4) Temple rallied strongly for second and should handle these with a similar effort. (6) Tusk has been absent since January but is training forwardly for this start. (2) Artie’s Rumor displayed a nice late kick in his winning his last try and should make his presence felt here. (9) Muggasmatic won this race last year and cannot be overlooked. Betting strategy: 4 to win, place. Exacta box: 2-4-6-9.

10th race – (1) Fiya has developed into a top-notch turf sprinter despite humble roots in maiden claiming races. He should cruise from the rail today. (9) Unmoored returns to his preferred surface of turf and is worth a long look. (12) Like What I See seems to be getting better at the right time. (5) Tiger Blood should thrive with some class relief after racing in a string of stakes. Betting strategy: 1 to win, place. Exacta box: 1-5-9-12.

No.
