1st race – (3) Machisto should be formidable here off a useful debut and may take a big step forward. (2) Bourbon Over Ice has speed and might be hard to catch. (6) Champ Dubai is a firster who merits attention here. (5) Laban M Mo may perk up in a claimer. Betting strategy: 3 to win, place. Exacta box: 2-3-5-6.

3rd race – (1) Chao was a good second last time and looks best in this field. (2) Famous Gent was right behind the top pick and should be the main threat. (4) Albie might wake up in this spot. (8) Buenisimo is worth a look off the Crichton claim. Betting strategy: 1 to win, place. Exacta box: 1-2-4-8. Doubles: 1-2-4-8 with 1-5-6-7.

4th race – (5) Steak and Cheese ships in from California and could generate a tasty victory. (1) Prefect won by a nose last time and deserves a long look. (6) Bohemian Boy was second after a long layoff and should move forward off that try. (7) Ski Patrol should handle the switch to turf. Betting strategy: 5 to win, place. Exacta box: 1-5. Exactas: 1-5 over 6-7 and 6-7 over 1-5.

6th race – (1) Fire On Time (A) exits a sharp win at Churchill Downs and can make it two wins in a row here. (4) Happy Constitution comes off a stakes try and should be the main rival. (3) Hallawallah was a good second last time and should be in the picture here. Betting strategy: 1 to win, place. Exacta box: 1-3-4.

9th race – (4) Mezcal was a solid second last time and seems poised for a winning effort. (6) Be Up disappointed at Tampa Bay but might rebound here. (7) Champagne Ivy will be a factor in the final furlong. (2) Silky Warrior fits in nicely here. Betting strategy: 4 to win, place. Exacta box: 2-4-6-7.
