st race – (5) Star Weaver was claimed by Maker out of a winning effort and can make it two in a row here. (10) Wicksters Dream finished third as the favorite and was claimed by Rivelli. Looks like he might more competitive here. (8) Unprecedented might wake up at this level. (2) R Man Joe has been freshened and is working nicely for today’s start. Betting strategy: 5 to win, place. Exacta box: 2-5-8-10.
th race – (6) Never Surprised arrives from New York after two impressive wins in quick time. Seems capable of a hat trick here. (7) Kentucky Pharoah has the outside post but should be tough to catch from the outside post. (1) Chess’s Dream won easily on turf and will be a big threat from the rail. (2) It’s a Gamble didn’t fire last time but could perk up here. Betting strategy: 6 to win, place. Exacta box: 6-7. Exactas: 6-7 over 1-2 and 1-2 over 6-7. Doubles: 1-2-6-7 with 3-4-5-11.
th race – (3) Young Raymond had a bumpy start and never fired. Deserves a second chance here. (4) Kalu drops to a level where he could be a main threat. (5) Mozo Bello might appreciate a switch to turf. (11) Karen’s Cove was third in his last two starts and should be a main factor. Betting strategy: 3 to win, place. Exacta box: 3-4-5-11.
th race – (5) Seize the Hay (B) rallied five wide and still managed to post a maiden win. Should be competitive in this spot against winners. (10) Austrian has a nice closing kick and seems like he’s ready for a big effort that can add to Gargan’s hot numbers. (8) Notsosubtle cuts back to a more favorable distance and is worth a good look here. (2) Light Fury seeks a third straight win and merits attention. Betting strategy: 5 to win, place. Exacta box: 2-5-8-10.
th race – (7) Greatest Honour (A) had a world of trouble and still managed to pull out an impressive maiden win. He hails from a top barn and seems ready for a big effort in his stakes debut. (3) Papetu was a good second in a stakes at the meet at 20-1. A repeat of that effort will make him the one to fear. (6) Prime Factor was an easy winner in his debut and has worked sharply since then for Pletcher. He certainly has the potential to be a bigtime runner. (8) Sittin On Go is a Grade 3 winner who never fired in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile but his recent works indicate he might be ready for a strong 3-year-old debut. Betting strategy: 7 to win, place. Exacta box: 3-6-7-8.
