1st race – (1) Awestamind takes a significant class drop and switches to Jose Ortiz. Gets the nod in a bland field. (5) Awesome Crusader might appreciate the surface switch to Tapeta. (3) Major King is a firster who might rule in his debut. (4) Sunspot rallied for second against cheaper and could be in the picture here. Betting strategy: 1 to win, place. Exacta box: 1-3-4-5.

3rd race – (7) Alley Oop Johnny makes his debut off the Gargan claim and may be tough to catch at this level. (9) Triple Jeopardy disappointed last time but could wake up today. (4) Steak and Cheese might be a tasty choice in a claimer. (8) Thenorthremembers hopped at the start last time and should be more competitive here. Betting strategy: 7 to win, place. Exacta box: 4-7-8-9. Doubles: 4-7-8-9 with 2-4-5.

4th race – (2) Mine for Passion (A) turned in a strong effort on the front end before losing by a neck at the wire. Should not look back here. (5) Silver Spur also missed by a neck and looks like the one to fear. (4) Chrome Republic will be a factor in the final furlong. Betting strategy: 2 to win, place. Exacta box: 2-4-5.

7th race – (8) My Romeo Lima tired in the final furlong of his career debut but should get the job done here. (2) Curbstone has been effective on turf and should handle the switch to Tapeta. (3) Tyson debuts for Pletcher and could carry quite a punch. (6) Roadtriptonowhere gets back on Tapeta and should not be ignored. Betting strategy: 2 to win, place. Exacta box: 2-3-6-8.

10th race – (7) Boggiemiester has been getting better with each start and seems poised for a winning effort. (9) Grand Sir was third at this level and will benefit from adding Jose Ortiz. (2) Ciango might wake up in a claimer. (3) Board Certified was second or third in his last three starts and looks formidable here. Betting strategy: 7 to win, place. Exacta box: 2-3-7-9.
