Keeneland Sales Graduates Headline July 4 Weekend Graded Stakes

Keeneland sales graduates take center stage over the July 4 holiday weekend as more than 35 alumni are entered in graded stakes across major North American tracks on Saturday and Sunday.

Keeneland September Yearling Sale graduates figure prominently on Saturday’s blockbuster day of racing at Belmont. Grade 1 winners Vekoma, McKinzie and Code of Honor top the field for the Runhappy Metropolitan Handicap (G1), a Breeders’ Cup Challenge race for the Dirt Mile (G1). Graded stakes winners Instilled Regard and Channel Maker highlight the Manhattan (G1) and 2019 Belmont (G1) winner Sir Winston competes in the Suburban (G2).  

In the Los Alamitos Derby (G3), a prep for the Kentucky Derby (G1), Keeneland sales alumni comprise the entire field led by multiple graded stakes winner Thousand Words. Grade 3 winner Comical and stakes winners Princess Cadey and Piece of My Heart try to earn points for the Kentucky Oaks (G1) with a win in the Delaware Oaks (G3).

Multiple Grade 1 winner Bellafina seeks to enhance her record in the Great Lady M (G2) at Los Alamitos.
