The $200,000 Runhappy Ellis Park Derby, Ellis Park

10th race – (4) Art Collector elevated into the upper echelon of the 3-year-old division with a sharp victory in the Blue Grass Stakes. This surely shapes up as more of a prep for the Kentucky Derby than a major objective for the connections, but even if he’s not 100 percent, he should be able to handle this field. (9) Dean Martini took a big step forward in his second start for Amoss, winning the Ohio Derby. He’s been training forwardly since then and seems ready for another solid effort. (10) Attachment Rate had a rough trip when he was fifth in the Blue Grass. He could rebound with a better try here.  (12) Shared Sense won the Indiana Derby last time out but has a tough post to overcome. Betting strategy: 4 to win, place. Exacta box: 4-9-10-12. Trifecta box 2-4-9-10-12.
