The $100,000 El Camino Real Derby, Golden Gate, Race 8

8th race – (2) McKinnon has yet to race on a synthetic surface, but he has been successful on turf which generally translates into good efforts on all-weather surfaces. He was a solid third in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf and if he can duplicate that effort here, he’ll be hard to beat. (4) Blackadder is trained by Bob Baffert which makes him a threat in any 3-year-old stakes. He’s untested on an all-weather surface but his connections make him a must-use here. (6) Boise won a stakes over this course two starts ago and should be a factor in the final furlong. (11) Del Mo has turned in a series of good efforts over the course and will be dangerous if he can overcome the inherent problems of the outside post. Betting strategy: 2 to win, place. Exacta and Trifecta box: 2-4-6-11.
