The $1 million Rebel Stakes, Oaklawn Park, Race 11

11th race – (2) Newgrange won the prep for this race – the Southwest Stakes - against four other rivals who were in that race. Trainer Bob Baffert may not be eligible for the Kentucky Derby, but he still has a formidable array of 3-year-olds and this runner should be ready for a big effort here. (11) Dash Attack didn’t fire in the Southwest but is training sharply and should turn in a better effort here, if he can overcome the outside post. (9) Barber Road closed nicely for second in the Southwest and should not be ignored here. (8) Chasing Time seems the best of three starters from Steve Asmussen and belongs in the exotics. Betting strategy: 2 to win, place. Exacta and Trifecta box: 2-8-9-11.
