4th race [NY, Md 30000, 6F] – (5) Nikki Brainhurst was second the whole race and lost by a neck against open company a month ago. (7) Spun Size moved from Gulfstream Park to make her first start against NY-breds and ran second after pressing the pace. (6) Observer dropped into a claimer for the first time and finished third. (2) Sunset Park was near the lead and finished third in her second start of the year.
5th race [Clm 50000B, 7F] – (1) Certified Loverboy (A) stumbled badly and lost the rider as an even-money favorite. (6) Winit was a high-priced claim twice recently and drops into a beaten claimer for the first time since being taken by Linda Rice. (2) Dr. Kraft was second in his last two starts after having the lead with one of them at this level in February. (5) Augustine Red hit the board in his last three starts and gets Manny Franco.
6th race [NY, Md 30000, 6F] – (7) Global Charmer (B) stalked, got the lead, battled down the stretch to miss by a neck in her second career start. (4) Good Mission was on the lead, lost by two-lengths, and cuts back a bit. (1) Professor Grace comes back from a December layoff after her debut and gets first-time Lasix, blinkers, and Franco. (8) Malibu’s Dynamite has been facing better and comes back in a week to make her second start after a layoff.
8th race [NY Stallion Series, 6 ½ F] – (6) Decree and Declare (B) returned from a September layoff, got pulled off the rail in mid-stretch, rallied to just miss the win by a neck, and finished well clear of the rest of the field. (1) Bam’s Bliss Kiss was an impressive front-end allowance winner in her second start of the year three weeks ago. (8) Disco Star tried a turf stakes at Gulfstream in January and now returns to NY-bred competition where she hit the board in her first three races. (2) Howling Wind set the pace and finished third in the Maddy May, gets blinkers on, and cuts back to a sprint.
Best bets: Nikki Brainhurst (4th); Certified Loverboy (5th). Best value: Global Charmer (6th); Decree and Declare (8th).
