1st race [NY, Md 30000, 1 mi] – (3) Miss Fashionista dropped into a maiden claimer for the first time in her fifth start and rallied from last to miss the top spot by less than a length. (5) Malu pressed the pace, got the lead, but was passed in the stretch to finish second. (4) Accelerina was second at this level two races back and then tried the maiden special weight again to no avail. (7) The Splendid One made her first start for a tag after a five-month layoff. Moved from turf to dirt and ended up in third.

2nd race [Clm 32000, 1 mi] – (3) Market Alert (B) was blocked for a furlong of his last race, still managed to get third, and was claimed for $25,000. (2) Magnolia Midnight won two races in a row in the fall in a $40,000 claimer and a $16,000 starter allowance. In his most recent races, he tried an allowance and caught a sloppy sealed track at Aqueduct. He is projected to be the pace setter in this field. (5) Royal Tryst notched his seventh career victory last time in a $40,000 open claiming race. (6) Bold Victory was claimed three races in a row and won two of them in October for $12,500 and $25,000 and now drops back to a more appropriate level.

4th race [NY, Md 30000, 1 mi] – (5) Dame Catherine is expected to get loose on the lead in this field of seven after last time setting the pace and missing the win by a neck. (3) Awesome Glo got Lasix for the first time, pressed the pace, and finished third. (7) Holder Close ran second in her only claiming start and now drops to the bottom level in here. (6) Bells Tolling was third at today’s claiming price last time and was the best of the rest of the field.

8th race [Clm 40000 N2L, 7F] – (4) Red D G P (C) was bet down from 7-1 to 5-1, pressed the pace following a four month layoff, was beaten by only a neck, and got claimed for $40,000. (3) Best Bet was off for seven months after winning a $75,000 maiden claimer, tried an allowance in his first race back, and drops back in for tag at a winning level. (2) Mandatory will try a N2L claimer again knowing that he was second the last time he ran at that level. (1A) Thank You Jon was claimed out of a second-place finish at this $40,000 level and then tried a starter allowance where he set the pace but was out run at the end.

Best bets: Market Alert (2nd); Dame Catherine (4th). Best value: Miss Fashionista (1st); Red D G P (8th).
