2nd race [Clm 16000, 6F] – (5) Sue Ellen Mishkin (A) set pace, got challenged for the lead, and was impeded in the stretch to finish third. (1) Beautiful Karen was a winner the last time she raced in a $25,000 claimer in that same race as the Hot List horse. (3) Jackie the Joker won her most recent start in a $12,500 claiming race. (2) Slack Tide was claimed for $32,000 at Keeneland by Linda Rice a month ago when she ran fourth.

4th race [Alw 50000s, 1 mi] – (3) Brooklyn Diamonds won a claimer two races back and then returned in a starter allowance to miss by a nose and duplicated speed figures that top this field. (4) Anthracite was claimed from his last two starts where he was fourth both times and is a past winner for a $50,000 tag. (1) Strapped was second in a starter allowance last time after winning a maiden claimer for Linda Rice. (2) Stjames has been off since August when he ran his best speed figure at Saratoga after finishing third.

5th race [NY, Md 30000, 7F] – (1) Max Foster raced twice at Aqueduct in the winter and finished in the top three but then was off for nine months until he raced in a pair of maiden special weights at Finger Lakes. (2) Sin Nombre raced twice at Saratoga and pressed the pace the last time after getting bet. He comes back as a new gelding and takes the blinkers off. (7) War Prince made a big improvement in his second start following a layoff when he ran third. (3) Chulligan debuted on the main track, returned to the dirt last time, and now drops down to a claimer for the first time.

6th race [NY, Md 40000, 6F] – (1) Vaunted has early speed and drops back into a claiming race where he ran second at Saratoga. (10) Bustino Santino was third in his last two starts on the turf in maiden special weights, goes back to the dirt, and goes for a tag for the first time. (7) Runandscore was second in a maiden claimer at Keeneland last time and returns to NY-bred racing where he had a pair of top three finishes in the spring. (3) Woodside Warrior has three second-place finishes in a row at this level and got claimed.

Best bets:  Sue Ellen Mishkin (2nd); Brooklyn Diamonds (4th). Best value:  Max Foster (5th); Vaunted (6th).
