th race [NY, Alw 80000, 7F] – (7) Land d’Oro (A) returns from a June layoff when he had to check back to last early in that race and finished fourth. (4) Yo Banana Boy broke his maiden by more than nine lengths and then came right back to run a close third in an allowance at Saratoga. (5) Tall Paul will make his first start of the year with Lasix for the first time after being stakes-placed as a 2-year-old. (1) Sin Nombre moves back to state-bred company after racing in claimers since breaking his maiden during the winter.
th race [Md Sp Wt, 1 1/16 mi TURF] – (2) Davy Crocket (C) was bet down from 5-1 to 3-1 and got the lead after a late rally but finished second beaten by less than a length. (4) Valuation Metric (B) rallied to get fourth in his debut after getting far behind and may have been best in that race. (5) Barricade had some trouble in his debut at Saratoga for Repole Stable and Todd Pletcher. (7) Got Stripes will make his first start with a pedigree that is loaded with European influence on both sides.
th race [Alw 92000, 6F TURF] – (1) Risk Threshold (A) was an easy winner on the front-end back in June against a strong field as the 2-1 favorite. (7) In Our Time made a big improvement after moving to the turf. He was second in an allowance at Gulfstream Park, tried a stakes, and won a starter allowance at Saratoga as the favorite. (9) Leslie’s Humor ran twice on the grass and won a maiden at Monmouth Park and then got nailed at the wire in a Saratoga allowance after getting the lead. (8) Lamorna will get Lasix having earned his maiden victory last time while racing for Bill Mott at the Spa.
th race [Jockey Club Oaks (G3), 1 3/8mi TURF] – (7) Lady Mary moves to the barn of Jack Sisterson after racing in Germany for her first eight starts. She was out of the top three only once and last month finished third in the German Oaks (G1) against a field of 15. In June she missed by a head in a Group 3 race. (4) Beautiful Love is part of the powerful Charlie Appleby stable that has been training at Saratoga. She broke her maiden at Newmarket as a 2-year-old and won at Meydan in Dubai in February. After a layoff she made her American debut in the Lake Placid (G2) and was sixth. This is an easier spot for the Godolphin runner. (6) Mont Saint Michel showed improvement in each of her four starts which were at four different tracks. She broke her maiden in her second start at Woodbine and then tried a pair of stakes including the Pucker Up (G3) at Ellis Park in August. (9) Mixologist was a debut winner in June at Churchill Downs for Brad Cox that moved up to Saratoga where she got first by disqualification last month after a wide trip in an allowance against a large field.
Best bets: Land d’Oro (6th); Davy Crockett 7th). Best value: Risk Threshold (8th); Lady Mary (10th).
