st race [NY, Md Sp Wt, 5F TURF] – (6) Twisted Filigree (A) pressed the pace in his debut, had the lead, and finished second well ahead of the rest of the field. (2) El Grande O was third in his first career start for Linda Rice who does well with her second time starters. He is out of a mare that was stakes-placed and produced four winners that includes a $305,000 earner that was placed in a turf stakes. (7) Score the Rock is the first foal to race for a mare that was a stakes winner of $297,000. (8) Dancing Mischief was purchased in March for $70,000 with a modest pedigree and debuts shortly after the sale making you think that she had the look of a mature 2-year-old.

th race [Clm 10000, 1 1/16 mi] – (5) Trulucent was claimed from a victory last time for $10,000 and will join the Rice barn for the second time. Expect this 4-year-old to be part of the pace as she tries for an eighth career victory. (2) Higher Quality won a N3L claimer last out, was claimed for $14,000, and should get the right pace set-up from a stalking position. (6) Alcools ran second in a $32,000 claimer in March and since then was in four much higher-level races and now makes a significant drop in class. (1) Silipo was claimed for $25,000 in April, then won a $16,000 race, and now looks to win another with the drop down.

th race [Alw 50000s, 6F] – (9) Meraviglioso (B) made her first start for trainer Rick Dutrow when she raced wide on a sloppy track, pressed the pace, ands finished third beaten by only a head in a blanket finish for the top three spots. (3) Carbon was second by a nose after rallying in another starter allowance. (6) Lady Mine won a N2L claimer in her first start against open company with a closing rally and gets Lasix for the first time. (8) My Gal Jal moved from turf to dirt and became a longshot winner of a maiden claimer after a troubled trip.

th race [NY, Md Sp Wt, 6F] – (10) Echo in Eternity (A) broke last in her debut, rallied to get fourth, and now gets Lasix. (2) Bon Adieu had a second-place finish on a fast track sandwiched between two races on sloppy tracks that she did not appreciate. In that second, she finished between pair of horses that came back to win their next starts. (3) Nolita will make her debut for Bill Mott and is out of a mare that earned $180,000, was stakes placed in a NY-bred race, and has produced two winners including a stakes-placed NY-bred which had $237,000 in purse money. (1) Shaman Princess has shown early speed in all four starts and gets to break from the rail.

Best bets: Twisted Filigree (1st); Truculent (4th). Best value: Meraviglioso (7th); Echo in Eternity (10th).
