st race [NY, Md Sp Wt, 6F] – (7) Retail Man (B) was well bet in his debut, set the pace, and finished second clear of the rest of the field for a trainer that rarely wins with firsters. He is likely to get loose on the lead in this field. (2) Rob the Bank made two solid starts in turf sprints and is by a leading New York sire on the dirt. (3) Ice the Kicker made his first start at Saratoga on a sloppy track and was bet a bit. (1) Goldfire gets Manny Franco for his first start with a decent worktab.

th race [Md 40000, 1 mi] – (2) Bolt d’Plata improved for the third race in a row and rallied seven wide to finish second last time going a mile. (1) Timo had the lead in the same race as the top choice and finished behind him in third. Dirt appears to be his best surface. (4) Collect From Ike debuted on the dirt back in April at Keeneland and now goes back to the main track after three tries on the grass. (9) Sixwillberich was claimed for $40,000 last time and moves back to the dirt where he began his career.

th race [Alw 100000 N1X, 6F] – (1) Awesome Native (A) was closing strongly last time in his second start after a layoff when he got blocked in the stretch and was only beaten by a length. (8) Shaky Pants broke his maiden last time after improving in his prior two starts and earned a competitive speed figure. (3) Kool Kathmandu was third at this level last time when he pressed the pace in his first start following a seven month layoff. (7) Capone ran fourth in his first start after a year away from the races and gets Irad aboard.

th race [NY, Md Sp Wt, 7F] – (2) Dolomite (A) checked in her debut at Saratoga and finished second as a heavy favorite for Chad Brown. (7) Munny Grab made her first start at odds of 6-1 for a trainer that is very good with 2-year-olds especially in their second starts. (10) Empire Magic is a daughter of Good Magic out of a mare that was a graded stakes winner of $578,000. The $370,000 yearling purchase attracts Irad. (1) Collect the Data will make his first start for Chad Brown and is out of a dam that has produced four winners.

Best bets: Retail Man (1st); Awesome Native (7th). Best value:  Bolt d’Plata (4th); Dolomite (9th).
